Hello!
My name is Karen and I am the owner of 14to24W.
I come from a long line of retailers: my grandmother was a manager at A&S (now Macy's) and my sister is currently a buyer for a major deptartment store (she'd kick my behind if I told you which) - okay well maybe it's not a long line but it's still a line . . . As a result, I know some things and I know some people.
Now most companies like mine (who sell overstocked merchandise) have to go in and buy EVERY piece of overstock a company has in order to get their merchandise but we don't - I can go in and handpick what I like, what I think is functional or beautiful or effortlessly chic. I usually have to pay a little more but it's worth it unless you want to see a purple blouse with teal feathers hanging off of it and hey, if that's your thing that's fine - it just isn't what this site is about.
This site to me is about 2 things:
It's about QUALITY upscale plus size clothing and it's about discounts - both of which are sorely lacking in my opinion in the world of plus size fashion. I cannot count how many times I have walked into a store and seen racks of "regular" size clothing on sale with not a thing in the plus size department marked down or how many times I have dropped by an outlet shop for a designer I know makes plus size clothing but the outlet doesn't carry their plus size line. MADDENING and MIND BOGGLING.
By growing up with family in the apparel business I became accustomed to the perks: discounts extended to families, knowing when the markdowns were going to occur and I sort of became allergic to paying full price for clothing. Yes, I have $89 pants that I paid $89 for but I feel so much better wearing a pair of $300 pants I paid $89 for! It makes me happy and I hope to pass that happiness along . . .

In closing I would like to let you know due to the nature of our business we honestly never know what we will have access to from one week or month to the next. We may have some great Eileen Fisher one week and then we won't have anymore for another 2 months OR we may only have a handful of Lafayette 148 styles over the course of an entire year - so please, be sure to add us to your favorites and give us a peek every now and then - we may just make you a very happy lady!
